I will not delete anything from this resource page, but I will not be updating it. I have regretfully ceased to have the time to work on this. But do not despair, Jekyll and Hyde fans of deviantart - someone else has taken up the cause! A while ago I was contacted by another avid Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde fan who has created a blog called the Jekyll and Hyde Laboratory, who'd seen this resource page, liked the idea, and wanted to know if they could build off of what I had put together here. I gave them my permission, and they've done a fantastic job with expanding on it - their resource page has tons of links on it to all sorts of adaptations and resources, and it's just great to know that even if I can't do it any longer, someone out there is still working to make it easier for people to learn about and explore Jekyll and Hyde, its adaptations, history, etc. Go check it out!
Also, the person who runs the Jekyll and Hyde Laboratory is open to receiving resource submissions or recommendations, so if you have any websites/books/ movies/etc. that you want to spread the word about you can either contact them about it on their site, or you can throw me a note or message and I'll send them over myself.
Finding Jekyll and Hyde material on the internet can be a lengthy and arduous task, which is why I have decided to make it easier for everyone. Provided here is an ever-expanding list of Jekyll and Hyde internet resources, from texts to song lyrics, recorded performances, related audio tracks, fan sites, history, even feature-length films.
Have fun!

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde: adapted for the stage by David Edgar
Host: Mediafire
Scans of an excellent adapted play of Jekyll and Hyde, avalable for download as a Winzip file. You will need to have Winzip in order to open it.
Comments:An adaptation that, while imperfect, has moments of brilliance and insight into the characters. Features two separate actors playing Jekyll and Hyde, which I prefer because it means that Jekyll and Hyde are able to interact with each other dynamically, and it gives more of a feeling of duality. I very much recommend it to any J+H fan who hasn't seen a Jekyll and Hyde play (not a musical) and is interested in getting a feel for one.
Sleep in Chains: Jekyll's Nightmare
Host: Google Books ( LimitedPreview)
A partial preview of the adapted play by Jules Tasca.
Comments: An interesting adaptation that plays on the idea of duality using the entire cast of characters, not just the main man/men. For instance, it features a maid and a butler that play as jekyll's conscience, and Carew has two daughters, one obedient and the other rebellious. Not perfect, but has its moments of brilliance. Sadly, the preview chops off a good bit of the end.
The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
Host: Playscripts Inc.
A partial preview of an adapted play by Noah Smith.
Comments: Another interesting take on the story. It really brings in the characters of Enfield and Lanyon more than the others, and really uses them as characters in the plot, and it also has more prostitutes.

Host: LearnLibrary.com
Host: Wikisource
The full original text of The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson, available online for free.
Comments: Although the text can be found on a vast number of different websites, these are some of the better ones. These sites don’t have annoying pop-ups, distracting banners, confusing layouts, etc.
The Untold Sequel of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
Host: Archive.org
A short book which details Mr. Utterson brooding after Jekyll's death, and then coming across the will of Edward Hyde, and the real secret behind the whole affair. Very short.
Comments: The spin which this book gives the whole story of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is highly unusual, and also a bit of a stretch. Still, it's unique and very short, so read it and see if you think it believable.
The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Illustrated by Charles R. Macauley (1904)
Host: Archive.org
The full text of Dr. jekyll and Mr. Hyde with illustrations.
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Or, A Mis-spent Life: a Drama in 4 Acts (1897)
Host: Archive.org
The full script from one of the very first adapted stage performances of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Available in several different formats.
Comments: Not one of the best plays (it's very sensationalist and a bit shallow) but it's one of the first, so that's pretty much expected.
Jikiru Hakase to Haido-shi no Kai Jiken
(ジーキル 博士 と ハイド 氏 の 怪 事 件 )
Host: Aozora.com
The full Japanese translation of the Stevenson's novel "the Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde". An audio reading of it is also available in the Audio section.
Comments: If you happen to read Japanese, or you're trying to learn, give this a spin.
Doktor Dzsheyḳel un Mr. Hayd (1911)
Host: Archive.org
The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde translated into Yiddish.
Comments: If you happen to read Yiddish, this should be interesting. Otherwise, it's still pretty cool. Uninetelligable, but cool.
Various websites and articles that can help readers to understand the story of Jekyll and Hyde, and consider it from different perspectives and in different contexts.
Beauties and Beasts: Victorian Homosexuality in Stevenson's Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
Host: Geocities
A site created by Jason Huddleston that contains a number of articles exploring the story of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and the gay subtext within its plot, language and characters.
Comments A very interesting read. It really brings up a lot of interesting comparisons and details to support its theories. I learned quite a bit about Victorian history, London and its gay subculture. Thorough and well-written, although the website's design and layout is rather poor.
A Teacher's Guide to Jekyll and Hyde
Host: Penguingroup.com
A lengthy guide on ways to teach the Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.
Comments: Surprisingly interesting. I would recommend it to any big fans of the book over the student guides, since those tend to be for people who're reading the story for the first time, while this one is about really analyzing and comprehending it, and also connecting it to history, other literature, etc. Very good.

Jekyll and Hyde CliffsNotes
Host:Cliffsnote.com
Cliffsnotes book for Jekyll and Hyde. Provides a story summary, author bio, character list and analysis, quiz, essay questions and homework help. Also decribe the events in the story by chapter, though not the actual original text.
Comments: The book is skewed towards a very simplistic interpretation of the text that teachers or students may easily comprehend, but ignores many of the more subtle and complex elements of both the plot and characters.

Radio performance of The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (April 24, 2009)
Host: Archive.org
LebriVox's radio performance of The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson, in 10 parts.
Comments: The audio is very clear and the woman reading is easy to hear, but she speaks in monotone, taking away from the inherent drama of the story.
Old Time Radio's performance of the Betty Roland adaptation
Host: Archive.org
A radio performance of Betty Roland's adaptation of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, from 1932, in 10 parts.
Comments: A rather different retelling, in that it follows Jekyll's full life, from childhood on up, and instead of falling for Carew’s daughter, he falls for Utterson’s. It’s very focused on the drama and romance.
Audio Reading of "Jikiru Hakase to Haido-shi no Kai Jiken"
Host: Voiceblog.com
Chapters 1 through 3
Chapters 4 through 23
The audio recording of the Japanese Translation of the Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, split into its separate chapters.
Comments: An interesting and good quality reading. Again, if you want to sharpen your Japanese while also getting your daily dose of Jekyll and Hyde, this is a good way to do it.
These movies are available to watch online for free as streaming video.
Jekyll (2007, TV Series)

London, 2007. Tom Jackman is the only living descendant of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and has inherited his "condition." To survive, he has made a deal with his dark side: a body share. However, after hiring some help, mysterious forces and shady organizations begin to creep into the Doctor's life - and only they know the truth about Jackman's mysterious past.
Comments: Includes all six episodes, broken down into 3 parts each (they can be watched as a whole though). Very good quality. Fantastic show. Definitely the best modern adaptation of the story.
Jekyll and Hyde: the True Story
Host: Veoh
A documentary about how the Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde came into being. It includes details about Robert Louis Stevenson’s life and what defined him, horrified him and inspired him to make the story.
Comments: A must-see for any fans of the original book, and highly recommended for everyone else. It's very interesting, and you learn a lot about Stevenson's life.
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (2008)
Host 1: Youku
Host 2: Ustream
Host 3: WatchMovies
Host 4: Megavideo 1, Megavideo 2, Megavideo 3
Host 5: Yahoo Part A, Part B, Part C
A modern adaptation of the Jekyll and Hyde, starring Dougray Scott. Dr. Jekyll is a scientist who was introduced to a special African plant which has the power to heal the soul by allowing the dark half of it to run free. Now, with his dark side on a murder spree, Jekyll must hurry to create an antidote to constrain Hyde, before it's too late.
Comments: Kind of a not-so-bad-not-so-good version. I think it is worth a watch, though. They did have an... interesting (and by interesting, I mean hot) confrontation scene between the two personalities, and the ending was surprisingly different from the normal way in which J/H movies end.
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1920)
Host 1: Veoh
Host 2: Youtube (1 of 9 parts)
Host 3: Archive.org
The 1920 adaptation starring John Barrymore. Henry Jekyll is a much-admired man, but Sir George Carew criticizes him for his reluctance to experience the more sensual side of life. He goads Jekyll into visiting a music hall, where he sees Gina, an alluring dancer. Jekyll becomes fascinated with the two contrasting sides of human nature and the idea of separating them. After extensive work he devises a formula that transforms him into Hyde. It is not long before Hyde begins to dominate Jekyll's affairs. Jekyll also begins a relationship with the daughter of Sir Carew.
Comments: The plot in this movie is also eerily similar to that of the Musical (methinks Wildhorn drew his inspiration from these older films).
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1941)
Host: Youku
The 1941 black & white adaptation starring Spencer Tracy. Dr. Jekyll is young, happy and has a beautiful and wealthy fiancé, Beatrix Carew. His studies the act of splitting the evil half of man from the good, but his colleagues scoff. He rescues (and is partially seduced by) a pretty barmaid named Ivy Peterson, but he declines her advances since he is engaged. Edward Hyde, however, is perfectly happy to get his hands on her. Based off of the 1931 film featuring Fredric Marsh.
Comments: I highly recommend this movie to everyone! It's incredibly well-made, and Spencer Tracy does a wonderful eloquent-but-abusive Hyde, and he's so deliciously creepy too. Its plot is also eerily similar to that of the Musical, so any Musical fans should especially enjoy it.
the Jekyll & Hyde Broadway Musical
Host: Youtube, 16 parts
The entirety of David Hasslehoff's performance in the Jekyll & Hyde Broadway Musical (though I doubt that any of the people in this club are in any way new to it).
Comments: Though Hasslehoff's performance isn't considered to be the most exemplary by many, it does happen to be the most easy to find. For any dedicated Musical fans who enjoy watching the Musical over and over again, I recommend you buy the DVD, since the quality is 100 times better than that of youtube video.
The Two Faces of Dr. Jekyll
Host: Youtube
An older, bearded Jekyll experiments on himself and transforms into a younger, clean-cut and suave Hyde. In the form of Hyde he is able to spy on his wife at her parties, and soon learns of her affair. Hyde then exacts an elaborate revenge on Jekyll's wife, takes on a lover of his own, and causes general mayhem and murder, framing his counterpart for his crimes.
Comments:The movie is actually fairly interesting, but be warned that several of the videos in the playlist have had their sound cut out, my guess being that they contained copyright songs. It's still pretty easy to get the gist of it even without sound, just pretend it's an old silent film. Well, it's free and on youtube, so if you don't want to pay money to rent or buy it then you've got to take what you can get.
Dr Jekyll and Ms. Hyde
Host: Youku
A young scientist, Dr. Jacks, thinks he's to win a fortune when his wealthy grandfather passes away, but all he gets left with is a journal of scientific notes. He studies them and is able to complete Henry Jekyll's unfinished formula, Henry Jekyll. Testing it on himself, he experiences blackouts and soon hears rumors of a beautiful, intelligent and crafty young woman who claims to be his assistant, one Ms. Hyde. She'll do anything for power, whether it involve seduction or sulfuric acid, and she won't stop until she's taken over the company, as well as Jacks' mind.
Comments: Silly and really, really 70's, it's very much the tale of the liberated woman's quest to overthrow the business world more than really being Jekyll and Hyde related. It's very 70s in its humor as well. Good for a laugh
Dr Jekyll and Sister Hyde
Host:Youku
The young Dr. Jekyll is able to vastly extend the lifespan of a fly by injecting it with female hormones extracted from young girls' corpses, which also turns the fly female. He then tests it on himself, and predictably transforms into a beautiful woman (WARNING: boobs). His female self pretends to be his sister when their neighbors catch sight of her. Soon, Jekyll runs out of hormones and the morgue runs out of female bodies, and he panics. Although Jekyll is unwilling to kill to collect more hormones, Mrs Hyde will do anything it takes to stay alive.
Comments: Very, very spoofy, and not terribly well done. If you want your Jekyll and Hyde to be serious and thought-provoking go somewhere else, but if you don't mind a cheap period thriller with nudity and lots of cheesiness, go right ahead.
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (Animated Version)(1999)
Host: Youtube
Submitted By: DarthxErik
An animated cartoon version of Jekyll and Hyde in five parts, 50 minutes long.
Comments: This animated film for children surprisingly follows the plot of the original novel very closely. Even though the quality of the animation is not much better than scooby-doo and the plot is simplified for younger audiences, you're bound to love this artistic and entertaining re-telling of the story. My personal favorite thing about this version are the voices for Jekyll and Hyde and the ever-tragic ending.
Jekyll and Hyde (2002)
Torrent Link: the Pirate Bay
This movie is only available for download as a torrent. To download it, you will need Utorrent, Limewire or some other torrent program, and at least 1.01 GB (Gigabytes) of free space on your computer.
Included subtitle tracks: German, Italian and Spanish.
Dr. Jekyll is well-off. He is smart, rich, knows many respectable people, such as Sir Carew, who has proposed Jekyll marry his daughter (who couldn't see that coming?). Jekyll has, however, recently gotten some very radical ideas. After injecting himself with an experimental formula, he meets the dark side of himself in a dream. Soon that same dark side starts to roam the city, and eventually Carew is murdered and Hyde blamed. Jekyll secludes himself inside his house, racked with guilt, but he still can't escape Hyde.
Comments: Cheesy, cliche and mostly predictable, but fun to watch nonetheless. Plus, there's some lovely scenes in which Hyde gets a bit too "up close and personal" with Jekyll. John Hannah does a great job acting as both Jekyll and Hyde, and distinguishing between the two using only his voice and body language. If you have the programs and the space on your computer, I would recommend you go for it.
Jacqueline Hyde
Host: Megavideo
WARNING: Very, very VERY mature. Only watch it if you are of legal age, and definitely don't watch it on a public computer.
A young woman, Jacqueline Hyde (get it? Her name sounds like "Jekyll-in-Hyde") inherits a rich but spooky mansion from her deceased grandfather. There, in a secret lab, Jacqueline finds a formula her grandfather created that allows a person to change their body in any way they want. Since Jacqueline is rather plain, she decides to become other beautiful women, and runs off to have lots of sex. She even tries having sex with a woman as a man. However, Jacqueline finds her personality changes with each new form she takes, and these new personalities start taking over her life.
Comments: Overall, it's a very cheesy movie. Cinemtaically, it isn't too terrible for an amateur film, but still not great. I didn't find the plot or characters terribly compelling. If you've got a transformation fetish you'll love this movie, but otherwise it's just an insecure girl having sex with lots of different people as lots of different people. With Megavideo's 72-minute limit I wasn't able to finish the movie, but I don't feel I really needed to.
Abbott and Costello meet Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (shortened)
Host: Youtube.com
Abbott and Costello are learning about the British police force and come along on an investigation of the workings of Dr. Jekyll, who is rumored to have created an experimental drug that turns humans into animals. Weird, wacky shenanigans ensue.
Comments: A very silly little parody, though it does explore an idea that no other Jekyll and Hyde adaptation has adressed - namely, the fact that Jekyll could inject his drug into other people in order to create a distraction, ro to divert attention from himself.
Dr Pyckle and Mr. Pride
Host: Archive.org
A spoof on the 1920 Jekyll and Hyde movie. Nineteen minutes long.
Comments: A very silly, very funny spoof that really pokes fun at the seriousness usually lent to the story, as well as the typical black and white silent films of the time. Stan Laurel does a great job portraying the characters differently and in a comical fashion - and without using sound.
Fansites, musical lyrics, clips, fanfiction, useful things that don't fall into any one category.
Jikiru de Haido na Kare (He is Jekyll and Hyde)

Comments: A bit smutty and very shoujo-esque, but cute nonetheless.

Othello
Host: MangaFox
Though not Jekyll and Hyde based, it strongly resembles it. Yaya is a shy girl with little willpower or courage, Nana is a strong, willful and charismatic girl with a passion for punishing evildoers, and while complete opposites of each other, they are both one and the same. Instead of drinking an elixir, their personalities switch whenever one of them looks into a mirror.

A lecture by Keystone Church about applying Jekyll and Hyde to ourselves, to God, to faith and morality, and to changing for the better.
Comments: Normally not my cup of tea, but Keystone Church is a good speaker and makes some interesting points, even to an atheist like myself. If you're Christian or you like Keystone Church, then you'll probably like it more.
It's also really cute how he uses the signature script from the Musical to illustrate his points throughout his presentation. You can really tell that, even if he's not a full-on Jekyll and Hyde fan, he's done his research.
